Born in Lagos Nigeria in 1972, after his primary and secondary education, this artist went on to study at the Yaba college of Technology, Lagos from 1994 to 1999, after which he practiced as a full-time artist. Akintunde John joined the San-Diego watch Colour Society of California in 2003. He has exhibited extensively in Lagos and Abuja with many of his works in private and public corporate and collections both at home and abroad.
He accents through frontal and aerial perspective in his paintings. Most times, he always sets his composition from this viewpoint as this allows the viewer a unique position of surveying the work, to capture a feel that is very fundamental with his representation. Occasionally John engages the subject of the individual and half abstract forms through his portraitures on water colour as this is also expanded to include representation of other subjects, notably his singers and party series, toying with visual identity while placing with the fashion trend of asoebi to create works with a combination of magnificent colour scheme.
